Korean national midfielder Hwang In-beom 28, Tsurvena Zvezda enjoyed his first professional victory.
Tsurvena Zvezda beat Batska Topola 2-1 in the 33rd round of the 2023-24 Serbian professional football SuperLiga at Stadion Raiko Mitic in Belgrade, Serbia, on the 3rd.
Zvezda, which belongs to the championship round, the top split in the Super League, secured its victory by accumulating 84 points with 27 wins, three draws and three losses with four more matches to go. Zvezda, who is 14 points shorter than Partizan 22 wins, four draws and seven losses, is defeated in all of the remaining matches, and Zvezda will remain atop even if Partizan wins. With this win, Zvezda has secured a berth to participate in the European Champions League UCL Playoff PO during the 2024-25 season. Through the PO, Zvezda aims to advance to the UCL finals, where 36 teams compete.
Hwang In-beom, who started as a central midfielder on the day, helped his team score the first goal at the 10th minute of the second half. Hwang used his right foot on the left side to kick a ball towards the goalpost, and Peter Olayinka connected it with a header to break the net. With this result, Hwang has recorded five goals and six assists in official matches, adding one UCL goal and one assist to four goals and five assists in the league this season.
Zvezda allowed an equalizer to his opponent Ivan Milosavlevic in the 15th minute of the second half, but Cherif Ndiaye scored an additional goal in the 30th minute of the second half to win 2-1.
It is the first time that Hwang In-beom, who made his professional debut through Daejeon Citizen in 2015, won the championship by wearing a professional uniform. After playing in Daejeon and Asan Mugunghwa from 2015 to 2018, he played in the Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer in the U.S. in 2019 and entered overseas leagues. After playing for Rubin Kazan of Russia in 2020-2022, FC Seoul in 2022 and Olympiacos in 2022-2023, he joined the Zvezda team last summer and enjoyed an impressive victory in his first season by wearing the Zvezda uniform for 5 million euros about 7.3 billion won, the highest transfer fee ever in the Serbian league. Hwang almost won the K League 2 title in 2018. He joined the military in December 2017 and played for the Asan Mugunghwa, a national police team. However, Hwang was discharged from the military early after winning a gold medal at the Asian Games in Palembang, Jakarta that year, and returned to his original team at the end of the season, and could not share the moment when Asan won the title. In-beom won the EAFF E-1 championship in 2019 in addition to the Asian Games when he was wearing the national team uniform. 스포츠토토
